A Letter of Thanks from Leyte Island, Philippines

First of all, we’re happy to report that we were able to reach our goal of 3,000,000 yen (approx. 35,500 US dollars) to help build a school in the disaster stricken area of Ormoc City in the Philippines. Second, we have recently received a thank you letter from the local community which we will share with you now!

To everyone who helped build our school,

We want you all to know that despite the disaster that struck the Philippines and our city, we are doing really well.

Although there are still many areas that require rebuilding, we have been able to overcome so many difficulties and hardships thanks to the never ending support from each one of you.

Last Christmas we were blessed with one of the best presents that anyone could ever ask for. That present came in the form of word that after much time and effort, the new classrooms at Balion Elementary School had finally been finished!

Ever since we heard the news we couldn’t stop thinking about all the smiles it would bring to the faces of the children who have endured so much. The simple fact that they will soon be able to resume their studies is a bigger gift than any of us could have ever expected.

Everyone here in Ormoc City would like to extend our deepest appreciation for the help we received. This gift has become a shining light and has lifted us up as a community. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your help. Words alone couldn’t begin to describe our gratitude!

It’s worth noting that although the new classrooms have been built they have yet to be furnished with desks, chairs, etc. In order to purchase the necessary items for the school we’re aiming to raise an additional 300,000 yen (approx. 3,500 US dollars). As always, any help you can give is greatly appreciated and we look forward to your donations!
